Why I Switched from Spreadsheets to Notion for Client Management
After years of spreadsheet chaos, one freelance designer explains how a simple Notion dashboard saved her 2 hours per week per client.
For the first three years of freelancing, I lived in spreadsheets. I had one for invoices, one for project milestones, one for client contacts, and another for task lists. It worked — until I had more than 5 clients at once. Then things started slipping through the cracks. Deadlines missed, invoices late, the works.
I switched to Notion about 18 months ago and never looked back. The game changer was a single Client Dashboard. Each client gets a page with a project tracker, invoice log, contact info, and notes — all linked to a master database. I can see every active client's status at a glance, and I never lose a note again.
What surprised me most was the time savings. I used to spend 30 minutes per client per week just updating my spreadsheets. Now it's maybe 5 minutes. That's 2 hours saved per week for every 4 clients — time I can bill or spend on my own projects.
If you're still using spreadsheets for client work, give Notion a try. I've made my own Client Dashboard template available in the shop — it's designed for freelancers who want to look professional without the overhead.
